Snapper ThievesTwo men taking a total of 130 snapper and trying to hide them from Fishery Officers had their car and boat seized and face prosecution. They were stopped near Kawakawa Bay, in New Zealand's Firth of Thames. The daily legal limit for snapper in the Auckland Fisheries Management area is nine per person. Anyone seeing potentially illegal fishing activity can call the Ministry’s 0800 4 POACHER (0800 476 224). Article reprints or information email DiveNZ@divenewzealand.co.nz |
